'Dangal' won the viewer's
choice best film award at 2017 zee cine award
- Alia
Bhatt (for Udta Punjab) and Amitabh Bachchan(for Pink) have won Best
Actor Female and
Best Actor Male awards respectively at Zee Cine Awards 2017.
- 'Dangal'
won the Viewer's Choice Best Film award.
- Salman
Khan (Best Actor) and Anushka Sharma (Best Actress) for their film
'Sultan' based on votes by viewers.
- Further,
the song 'Channa Mereya' from the film 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' was named the
Viewer's Choice Song of the Year.

ICICI Bank, SBI top bank
frauds list: RBI
- RBI
data says, ICICI Bank topped the list of banks that witnessed most number
of frauds during April to December period of 2016 with state-owned SBI
taking the second spot.
- During
the first nine months of the current fiscal, as many as 455 fraud cases,
involving 1 lakh rupees and above, were detected in ICICI Bank, closely
followed by SBI with 429, Standard Chartered with 244 and HDFC Bank with
237.
- However,
in value terms, frauds involving 2,237 crore rupees were reported in SBI,
followed by Punjab National Bank with 2,250 crore rupees and Axis Bank
with 1,998 crore rupees.

Paytm withdraws 2% fee on
adding money to mobile wallets using credit cards
- Paytm has withdrawn the 2 % fee
on adding money to mobile wallets using credit cards, after introducing
the levy.
- The
company had introduced the fee after finding multiple users using its
platform to get free credit by using credit cards to top up their mobile
wallets and then transferring the money back to their bank accounts at
zero transaction cost.
INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS
Germany’s KfW, EESL in energy efficiency pact
- The
German Development Bank (KfW) and Energy Efficiency Services Limited
(EESL) has signed a loan agreement for €200 million to enhance energy
efficiency in India.
- EESL
will invest these funds in energy efficiency in buildings, households,
street lighting, agriculture, water supply and industry.
- KfW
also signed a funding deal of €500,000 with Indian Renewable Energy
Development Agency (IREDA) to maintain solar projects.
Japan, US conduct Navy drills
- The
Japanese and United States navies conducted joint exercises in the East
China Sea. The exercises involved Japanese destroyers and a US Navy
carrier strike group.
- The
drill was aimed at issuing a warning against nuclear-armed North Korea.
Recently, the tensions in the Korean peninsula had intensified in the
region following North Korea’s missile tests.
- The
exercises were also meant to display the joint Japan-US military presence
in the East China Sea, where Japan and China are locked in a long-running
dispute over uninhabited islets known as the Senkakus, while China claims
then as the Diaoyus.

Amarinder Singh to take
oath as CM of Punjab on March 16
- In
Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh will be sworn in as Chief Minister of the
state on 16th of this month at Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh.
- A
spokesman of the Governor House told AIR that Captain Amarinder Singh met
the state Governor V P Singh Badnore in Chandigarh today and staked claim
to form the government.
- He
presented the list of Congress legislators to the Governor. He met the
Governor along with Congress leaders Asha Kumari and Ashok Gehlot.
Amrinder Singh will meet Rahul Gandhi on 14th March to discuss his about
his future cabinet.
Arunachal Govt launches
new scheme Adarsh Gram Yojana
- The
Government of Arunachal Pradesh has launched a new scheme - Adarsh Gram
Yojana - with a view to reach to the poor people in rural areas. The
programme has been launched in line with the basic philosophy of the Prime
Minister - Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas.
- Under
the scheme, 123 villages, comprising one village per circle, are to be
developed as ‘model villages’ during the fiscal year 2017-18.
- A
corpus of 93 crore rupees has been earmarked in the next year’s budget for
infrastructure development and to serve the twin objectives of creating
employment opportunities and community assets for the people of those
villages.
- According
to official sources, the villages, to be covered under this scheme, are to
be identified by the district deputy commissioners in consultation with
Zilla Panchayats and elected representatives.
Pranab Mukherjee
inaugurates the 12th CII-Exim bank conclave on India-Africa Project Partnership
- President
Pranab Mukherjee has inaugurated the two-day 12th CII-EXIM Bank Conclave
on India-Africa Project Partnership in New Delhi.
- The CII-Exim bank conclave was organized
by the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) in partnership with the EXIM
Bank of India with the support of the Ministry of External Affairs and the
Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.
- India
offered fifty thousand scholarships to our African brothers- six thousand
Africans have since trained under IAFS-3.
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AFFAIRS
India Test Fired Brahmos
Missile
- India
successfully test fired Supersonic cruise missile Brahmos from the
integrated test range at Balasore off the Odisha coast.
- The
supersonic missile is capable of carrying a warhead of 300Kg. With this
successful test firing the extended range Brahmos, India can knock down
enemy targets beyond 400kms.
SPORTS AFFAIRS
Chawrasia clinches second
successive Indian Open title
- SSP
Chawrasia has become only the second Indian golfer to successfully defend
the Hero Indian Open title. He clinched a seven-stroke win at the
redesigned DLF golf and country club in Gurgaon today. This was his sixth
win on the Asian Tour and overall sixth international victory.
- Chawrasia
pocketed a winner's cheque of 291,660 US Dollars. Chawrasia, who was
sharing the lead with Spain's Carlos
- Pigem
and England's Eddie Pepperell after day 3, emerged as the sole leader
after 42 of the 69 golfers who made the cut returned to complete the third
round today.
- Chawrasia
is the third player to win back-to-back Indian Open. The other two golfers
who did so earlier are Jyoti Randhawa who won in 2006 and 2007 and Japan's
Kenji Hosoishi who won in 1967 and 1968.
Ritu Rani comes out of
retirement to join Indian hockey team
- Former
hockey captain Ritu Rani has
shunned retirement to make a comeback in the Indian team after a seven-month sabbatical.
- Earlier,
Ritu had announced her retirement in September last year, post her
wedding.
- She
figures in the 18-member Indian squad announced by Hockey India for the
women's Hockey World League Round 2.
- The
tournament will be held in Canada from 1st April.
