  • Ashwini Nangia a well-known chemist is appointed as the Director of Pune National Chemical Lab.
  • The Indian Railways in its Northern Zone, known as North Central Railway headquartered at Allahabad has appointed Mr. M C Chauhan as the new General Manager.
  • Ruchi Ghanashyam, a Senior diplomat is given appointment as the Secretary (West) in the MEA, popularly known as Ministry of External Affairs.
  • All India Football Federation (AIFF) appointed Portugals Luis Norton De Matos as the head coach for Football team for India U- 17 on March 1, 2017, for FIFA U-17 World cup 2017.
  • United World Wrestling (UWW)  sports governing body appointed Kripa Bishnoi as International Match Referee.
  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet popularly known as ACC has recently approved the appointment of P K Purwar as the Chairman and Managing Director of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) for five years.
  • JS Deepak, The Union Telecom Secretary has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to the World Trade Organization. He will take the charge from June 2017.

BANKING AFFAIRS
  • State Bank of India got approval from the stakeholders of the organization to raise a capital of 15000 crores by the overseas assurance share. 
  • The head of all the banks of India, The Reserve Bank recently established a new team with 11 members for monitoring the increasing cyber threats.
  • In HDFC, ICICI, Axis bank charges 150 Rs for money transactions and money withdrawal. They mentioned that for four transactions in a month charges will not be applied.
  • The State Bank of India announced to charge Rs. 100 towards penalty for improper maintenance of the bank accounts to its customers from 1st April 2017.
  • An expert committee set up by SIDBI has sanctioned Rs 300 crore to fund managers who would invest in startups, taking the total sanctions so far this fiscal to over Rs 1,100 crore.
  • The World Bank has announced an assistance programme of over $1 billion in the areas of urban transport and climate resilient agriculture in Maharashtra, over the next 2-3 years.
  • Ujjivan Small Financial Bank Ltd. (Ujjivan SFB) has launched a powerful, educational film on Financial Literacy titled 'Paison Ki ABCD'.

  • American Express, has launched a new payment platform Buyer Initiated Payments (BIP) to reduce the transactions through cheques.
  • HDFC partnered with personal finance app ET Money and launched Data-LEd Policy.
  • The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has cut its growth projection for India in 2016-17 to 7% from the 7.4% it had projected last year.
  • Non-life insurer Reliance General Insurance, part of Reliance Capital Ltd said it has signed a bancassurance deal with private-owned Kerala-headquartered Catholic Syrian Bank.
  • As NPAs of public sector banks soared to a staggering Rs 6.8 lakh crore, the chairman of a key Parliamentary panel has favoured naming and shaming corporate houses which default on repayment of bank loans.
  • Regulator Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) has proposed up to 50 per cent increase in insurance premium for cars, motor cycles as well as commercial vehicles from April 1.

DEATHS
  • Popular Gujarati humourist Taarak Mehta passed away after prolonged illness. He was 88.
  • Former France soccer great Raymond Kopa has died at the age of 85.
  • Former Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer and MP Syed Shahabuddin, who was suffering from prolonged illness, died at a hospital in Noida. He was 82.
  • Eminent socialist leader, former Union Minister and former Speaker of Lok Sabha Rabi Ray passed away in Cuttack. He was 91.

  • The Zero Discrimination Day (ZDD) is observed every year on 1st March. 2017 theme is “Make Some Noise for Zero Discrimination”.
  • World Wildlife Day is celebrated every year on March 3 as proclaimed by the United Nations in 2013. This year’s theme is “Listen To The Young Voices”.
  • The World Hearing Day (WHD) is observed every year on 3rd March. The 2017 theme “Action for hearing loss: make a sound investment” draws attention to the economic impact of hearing loss and the cost effectiveness of interventions to address it.

  • The President of The United States of America, Donald Trump recently released a note indicating to accept the immigration based on the merit list.
  • Australia said it will offer the world’s first university course to train intelligence analysts to fight cyber crime, prompted by innovative methods of money transfer among organised crime and militant groups.
  • Tripura, the North Eastern State of India has signed an agreement to provide 60 Mega Watt additional power to the neighboring country Bangladesh.
  • China’s National People’s Congress, (NPC) has set its Gross Domestic Product growth target at around 6.5% for the year 2017, compared with the last year target range of 6.5 to 7%.
  • New fossils have come into existence in Canada as per the research conducted in Nuvvuagittuq Supracrustal Belt (NSB) of Canada.
  • Ukraine's self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic will use the Russian ruble as its official currency. The ruble would be used in the pro-Russian territory as the basic unit of currency as of 1 March 2017.
  • The 13th Economic Cooperation Organisation Summit was held in Islamabad, Pakistan. The theme of ECO Summit was "Connectivity for Regional Prosperity,".

NATIONAL AFFAIRS
  • One of the 29 States of India Kerala, historically known as Keralum is an Indian state in the Malabar Coast has been declared as the first Digital State.
  • Legislative Assembly of Orissa produces the State budget 2017-18 with an outlay of Rs. 1,06,911 Crores.
  • The government of Maharashtra has stated the Road Transport Corporation of Maharashtra to paint the red buses with yellow and white paint for a trial. Yellow and White colors are the resemblance of peace.
  • The capital city of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram stood as the top city in the Urban Governance.
  • Ministry of IT & Electronics has taken the responsibility to promote digital transactions by replacing the NITI Ayog.
  • Kerala got the highest number of enrollments and registrations for Goods and Services Tax (GST). This Kerala state recorded 60% registrations.
  • Madhya Pradesh Announces Deendayal Rasoi Yojana for the poor in the Budget 2017-18. Under this Yojana, the government released money for education, rural development, energy sector, urban development, and pension to unemployed widows.
  • The Indian Union government has approved over 4,000 Post Graduate seats in medical colleges and hospitals across the country for the academic year 2017-18.
  • The Chief Minister of Telangana made an agreement with Google India, one of the top most MNC Company recently. The aim of the CM of Telangana is to digitalize the state.

  • Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar, the Chief Minister of Haryana, announced Tirtha Darshan Scheme for the senior citizens, i.e., to the citizens who attained 60 years of age insisting that they can go on a pilgrimage with government expenses within India.
