Mobile Standards Alliance of
India (MSAI) and the Nirbhaya Jyoti Trust launched a mobile app aimed at
ensuring personal safety during times of distress. The app - called I Feel Safe
Safety Ka Power Button - has a virtual panic button which users can simply
press to activate the alarm.
The ambitious Crime and Criminal
Tracking Networks and System (CCTNS) project will be operationalised by 31st of
March next year. The project aims to connect all police stations in the country
with the objective of tracking crime and criminals related data on real time.

Madhya Pradesh has become the
16th state to join the centrally sponsored plan Ujwal Discoms Reforms for power
distribution (UDAY). The annual saving in the interest cost to the MP discoms
would be around Rs 2,215 crores on account of restructuring of the discom debt.
Puducherry became the first union
territory to join Ujwal DISCOM (Distribution Companies) Assurance Yojana
(UDAY). An overall net benefit of Rs 378 crores approx. would accrue (receive
(payments or benefits) over time) to the UT by opting to participate in UDAY

will launch a databank to gather information about micro, small and medium
enterprises. Online finance facilitation centres will also be launched to
provide collective funding options for MSMEs.
Government has notified the
national Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) policy. The ECCE is one of
the six free services provided through Anganwadi centres located across the
country under the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) scheme of
Ministry of Women and Child Development.

jointly organising "HackFest 2016". Objective of HackFest 2016 is to

challenge will be held in Bengaluru on September 24-25.

National Highways Authority of
India (NHAI) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IIT-Kharagpur
for research project on Laboratory and Field investigations on Paneled Cement
Concrete (solid) Pavements (footpath, pedestrian way) for Highways. Highways
paved with bituminous materials are more likely to damage due to adverse
climatic conditions and need frequent maintenance.

Minister Maneka Gandhi has kicked-off (begun) a social media campaign to mark
Daughters' Day on 11th of August. The entire week is being celebrated as
Daughters' Week as part of government's 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' programme to
check female foeticide, improve sex ratio and educate girls across the country.
Telecom Regulatory Authority of
India (TRAI) has launched a new portal that allows mobile users to check the
level of call drops, network coverage and call quality of telecom operators
across India. The information would be available on the URL: http://analytics.trai.gov.in.
